Ice on Community Lakes

Now that winter is here, please watch and make sure that children stay off of the lakes and water throughout the Wellington Community. While the ice may look solid, it is quite thin and very dangerous.

Wellington Community Association
Board of Director’s Meeting
Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 20, 2009

A meeting of the Board of Directors was convened at the Wellington Community Center, located at 9700 Wellington Road, Manassas, VA, 20110.

PRESENT:

Board Members present:  Tim Wilson, Suzanne Westre Seaberg, Fran Guastadisegni, Jeri Burke, and Carolyn Lightner.  Community Manager, Diane Hartman, was present representing Legum & Norman, our Property Managers. Kim O’Halloran from Reese Broom Diaz was present as well as Lorene Payne from the City of Manassas Zoning Department. Tyler Tedford and Michelle Samoy were absent.

CALL TO ORDER:

President, Tim Wilson called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

Tim Wilson opened the meeting to open forum to allow the residents from China Grove and Acer Lane to speak about the parking situation.

RESIDENT FORUM:

The first resident made the comment that if the Board went forward with making the parking spaces first come first serve it would become a quality of life issues for the families who live on those streets.  He mentioned that if we observed the street at 6am we would find all of the driveways empty and every space taken.  He also mentioned that they had already given up one space and this would be unsafe to travel back and forth from house to vehicle if he had to park up the street.

A man and wife were here from Coriander to complain about the trash.  They would like the board to pass a resolution that each homeowner has their trash in cans with a lid to prevent the trash from being broken into by squirrels.  They said it is a terrible problem on their street and the trash people do not pick up the extras that have blown around.

A resident from China Grove spoke and she echoed the same thing as the first man from China Grove about the parking.

Another resident from China Grove said she has lived there a year and has a two year old and it would be too far for her to walk with her children late at night and it would be dangerous.

Two gentlemen from Garst complimented staff on the cleaning of the property and said they had seen maintenance out on the golf carts and they are happy with the job they are doing.  They complained about a neighbor’s home that had their car towed because it was in the yard and consequently it has destroyed the yard.  They also complained that they need two stop signs on their street that have blown down.  Suzanne Seaberg, Vice President reported that she has turned that into the city to be repaired.

They also reported a person who has an American flag that is in ruins. Ms. Payne, Supervisor of Zoning from the City said we cannot do anything about the flag.

A lady from Coriander complained about the trash on the fence line and the rocks.

Tina Laguna gave her report.

A man who was a former President on the board complained about his street and demanded to see the letters.  He was informed by Kim O’Halloran, Attorney for Wellington that we could not release that personal information.  Each owner’s information

Must stay with the owners file.

Kim O’Halloran gave the history of the parking on China Grove and Acer Lane.  She also provided a number of solutions to the problem.  Ms. Payne also spoke and gave some solutions to the problem and told the residents we were here to solve the issue and promised the residents we would work out a solution to the problem.
