Paying it Forward in Wellington

SUMMER 2008 – Several Wellington families joined efforts to clean up yards of vacant and abandoned homes that had become eyesores in our neighborhood. These efforts did not go unnoticed.  It brought instant curb appeal and may have helped to improve property values and marketability in Wellington.

FALL 2008 – Wellington Community Association receives 1st place in the “Best of Neighborhood” contest for their team efforts over the summer. City of Manassas awards Wellington a $100 gift card to JE Rice.

MARCH 2009 – Wellington Board of Directors votes to “Pay It Forward” announcing a contest for local youth groups to “Keep Wellington Green & Earn Some Green” (the $100 gift card to JE Rice).

WEEK OF EARTH DAY, APRIL 2009 – Youth volunteers and their Leaders comb common areas in Wellington, picking up trash and recyclables.  Wellington would like to thank all of the youth volunteers, their parents, and leaders for participating in this contest.  Our Community is cleaner and greener because of you. Jennie Dean Elementary 4H Green Club wins the prize for the most collected litter.

SPRING & SUMMER 2009 – Jennie Dean 4H Green Club plans to use their winnings to help with their garden project at school.  Wonder where it will go from here?
