Snow Clearance

Some items regarding snow clearance within the Wellington Community.

1. Some advice from our friends up north who were looking at some photos of us shoveling snow yesterday and wondering what we were doing. “It is always easier to shovel 6 inches of snow twice than to shovel 12 inches of snow once.” They say to shovel the snow twice a day, especially while it is still snowing. That way, the snow does not accumulate, you can rest in-between trips outside, and the snow does not have a chance to pack and freeze. We get snow about once a year. Having a good, wide metal snow shovel makes all the difference when it does come!

2. Please take the time to clear a path from the road to your mailbox so that your mail can be delivered easily. If you are in a townhome, please help out to clear a path from the sidewalk to your mailboxes and from the mailboxes to the street. It only takes a few minutes, and it makes a lot of difference when the mail comes!

3. Please clear the snow from around the fire hydrants in your area. Should there be a fire, the firefighters need to be able to locate and access the hydrants immediately. Locating and digging out a hydrant that is buried under ice could mean that your home is the one lost to a fire.

Good luck!
