Here is additional information that was gathered by a resident about the Dominion Power expansion we posted about earlier today.
The project is called “Cannon Branch 230kV Line & Substation” and the project web page is at:
http://www.dom.com/about/electric-transmission/cannon/index.jsp
This page contains a lot of information about the project, a contact email address and documents including the proposed route maps for new power lines. Here is a link to an overview map:
http://www.dom.com/about/electric-transmission/cannon/pdf/route_overview_map.pdf
Please note routes D and E which would run within or alongside the border of the City. It appears that route E would run along Winters Branch.
City Councilman, Marc Aventi is asking City residents to provide feedback about the construction of more industrial power lines within City limits. The City manager has also provided this phone number for more information: 1-888-291-0190.
The Wellington Community Center is now an official designated drop-off location for the Marine Corp Toys for Tots program.
The gifts children receive through this program are many times their only presents. Please help those less fortunate. Light up a child’s face and brighten your own Holiday season in the process.
Donations can be dropped off through December 16th at the Wellington Community Center. (Toys must be new and unwrapped.)
(UPDATE: This open house was on December 8th, sorry for the confusion. We are going to post any results we hear from the open house and keep you informed.)
Wellington Residents,
Dominion Power is proposing large industrial power lines to serve a county data center by the airport. One route is along Winters Branch trail which runs beside Wellington and behind Jennie Dean Elementary. There is an open house on Wednesday, December 8th from 5pm – 7:30pm at the rescue squad on Center Street. Please attend and provide feedback to keep power lines out of the City!
