Hurricane Irene

With the potential for major wind and rain over the weekend, the Board and Management would like to remind you to please secure all items usually kept on the outside of your residence.

Items that are left outdoors can become missiles which wind up damaging your or your neighbor’s property. Please secure all outdoor items such as trash cans, lawn furniture, and other items which can be blown about by the winds, in your garage or storage shed if available. Trash cans should be tightly closed and secured in your garage, shed or back yard.

Items on decks should be secured either by bringing them inside or placing the items on the lowest level of your yard. This is especially important if you own a townhouse. If you are unable to secure these items inside please consider turning outdoor tables on their top and lay other items on their side. In all likelihood, in heavy winds, they will end up in that position anyway.

A little bit of prevention can help prevent damage and save a whole lot of clean up later.

Fall 2011 Community Yard Sale

This year’s Fall yard sale will be on Saturday, September 17th from 8am to noon.

The sale is advertised in the Manassas Journal Messenger and the Washington Post. Take advantage of the free advertising and clear out those unwanted and unused items stored in your attic, your basement and your garage.

The association will place directional signs from main streets of Wellington, Cloverhill and Hastings. Resident posted directional signs and arrows are allowed, however they must be removed at the end of the sale. Please remove the signs and items that you put out for the sale.

The rain date is Sunday, September 18th.

The office is looking for volunteers to assist with the placement and removal of signs around the community. IF you would like to assist, please contact the office at 703-330-5019, or via mainoffice@wellingtonca.org.

Annual Covenants Review

The Architectural Covenants Committee is beginning their annual review of the Community “Design Standards and Guidelines”. The results of this review will be presented to the Board for approval and revision of the current Guidelines.

If you have comments or suggestions for improvements to the Guidelines, such as rules which are outdated, language which is unclear, or new rules which might be added, please attend the September ARC meeting on September 6th at 7:00pm. Resident feedback can also be emailed to covenants@wellingtonca.org.

Please base your suggestions on a careful review of the current Guidelines document at: http://www.wellingtonca.org/community-policies/
